I'm back with yet another update before school gets the better of me. Soooo, this week was Rag & Flag @ NUS which was a good time for me to mingle around with the rest of my neighbours/ hallmates. Since I did not attend any camps (decided to not crash Oweek the night before it started) , Rag & Flag was really the first school event I got involved with and gotten to know people from. As expected, I'm no longer a phantom in hall , or at least less so compared to me at my previous post. Whatsapp group convos works wonders at connecting strangers. Fresh-Cees power!

Back to the serious school stuff, lectures starting proper this Monday, and tutorials are expected to start 2 weeks later. I'm feeling both psyched and nervous. It has been a whole 8months since I studied, I'm hoping my brain hasn't degenerated to nothingness. Also, university's a whole different ball game from JC/Sec school. I wonder if the module system works better for Poly kids since they probably have a similar one in poly.
Bidding of modules was a chore, and it still is a pain in my ass considering that I've only gotten 3mods for this sem, and the average is 5 so I really need to bid for at least 1 more during the last round of bidding - Monday. Also, FASS has the most flexible timetable which is both a good and bad thing. It's nice to be able to plan my own timetable such that I cram everything into a 3-day school week, but vexing because FASS does not have pre-allocated mods. This means I really have to plan EVERYTHING well so I fulfil my major requirements/ breath and etc.
For instance, I intend to major in Econs, and there are pre-requisites to certain mods that I want to take, and I also have a list of mods that are compulsory for major (but not pre- allocated), so I have to be mindful to plan them into my schedule and attempt to finish the basic ones during my first year or first 3 sems so I can advance to the higher level mods (that have pre-requisites, as aforementioned) in the following years.
I also have to plan what GEM/SS mods to take. I'm currently in a dilemma - do I choose to wait till I'm a senior and have more points accumulated from my first year of bidding before I bid for mods that I want (most of them that I want are competitive modules, and while I'm only allocated 400 points as a Freshie, the minimum bid can go up to 1000+ so I can't compete at all) , or just settle with weird mods that nobody wants and therefore easier to bid? Also, I researched and saw that it is better to save for GEM/SS to senior years cos they are level 1000 mods therefore lighter workload and would fit in better with our timetable that would by then, be filled with the higher level mods and thence a heavier workload.
It's really cumbersome bidding for mods and even more annoying that I still have to ballot for my tutorial slots after bidding which means MY TIMETABLE IS NOT FIXED YET, despite school starting on Monday and biz/med people all having their timetables. But anywhoo, I'm still quite excited for school, particularly the studying part. Thrilled to be reading Introduction to Economic Analysis, Introduction to Psychology & Theatre and Drama this semester - yes , the 3 that I've gotten thus far. I'll show a screenshot of my timetable once it's fixed!
Other than these, life hasn't been happening. It's slowly becoming a routine of hall life from Sunday night to Friday, then back at home for the weekends. Hall life has been hectic, but I realized it's mostly me doing stuff with Kan, like staying up in her hall to watch Three Idiots all night long (which btw, is a damn good show, everybody go watch) , or singing songs while she plays the guitar. Now that school's starting and all the CCAs are opening up for audition, I suppose these times will fall into memories as uni life enters another even more hectic stage. But I'd like for it to be hectic. Hectic means involvment which is good.
PS. I'm still busy decorating my hall and lugging more stuff over everytime I'm going back hall from home. I'll probably do a hall post once I'm done. Cannot wait till the Sunday where I can return to hall with just my Macbook in my Kanken and not have all these weird recycling bag full of clothes and miscellaneous stuff!
