USS

Mandatory picture of the globe at USS. But because I refuse to succumb to conformities of our society, here's a picture of half the globe and my attempt to be a hipster LOL

As guessed from the title and the picture above, a couple of weeks ago I finally went USS despite it having opened in May 2011. Had a pretty good day with Jt and her brother who's spending his holiday in Singapore. Went on a Tuesday so the crowd was pretty much non-existent, none of the rides took more than a 15mins wait. Missed some rides that looked kiddy and also due to the weather as it was basically drizzling throughout noon and poured from evening on.

Overall it was a pretty good experience and I'm happy I got to visit the park but I'm probably not too thrilled to have to pay $60++ for the rides again any time soon - the excitement wore off when we tried taking the rides the second time so.... meh. But I have to add that the different themed lands were indeed captivating and well designed. Stopped almost every minute just to snap a picture - which reminds me I didn't manage to take a polaroid with Shrek and Fiona, neither did I with Alex the lion cos some tourist/ kiasu Singaporeans decided to cut our queue when the mascot helper announced it was their last 3 pictures. Major WTF and Jt's brother was especially shocked cos he was supposed to be the next in line, and I was right behind him so we were supposed to be the lucky last ones. (I did however managed to take with Po on our way out, but my heart lies with Shrek ♥ and angst with the Alex incident)

Oh and for some strange reason, rather than being thrilled for the rides or the attractions, I was psyched for USS the night before solely for one thing - CHURROS. In my memory, Singapore used to sell these churros that were crispy on the outside yet insanely chewy on the inside, and an incredible match with the coating of cinnamon sugar. And I remember my mum used to get them for me and I'd always thought they were some kind of newly invented You Tiaos. Strangely these stalls seemed to have disappeared or perhaps I was even freaking ass lucky to have eaten them before, 10 over years ago. Anyway, so when I heard USS sold churros, I was mad excited - especially having watched countless of shows on TLC showing the amazing junk food sold in theme parks in the States and reading positive blog reviews on the churros USS sells. Okay yes, I went to research for churros instead of the USS rides or show times. I live to eat, what can I say!!

Unfortunately, we're in USS - Universal Studio SINGAPORE, not in the States. The churro I had sucked. Despite it's good looks, it was stale which was bad enough but noooo, whoever that made it decided to scrimp on the cinnamon and sugar so it was an utter disappointment and waste of my $3.80. This reminds me we had lunch at Oasis Spice cafe in Egypt that wasn't exactly a good experience either - would probably show you the picture except uh.. it doesn't look appetising. The only food worth spending on's probably the chicken fingers I got at Mel's near the entrance of the park. Would probably try out the pizza there cos everybody's raving about it if there's a next time I visit, and also if there's a whole bunch of us!!

As mentioned, it was rainy the entire day. Look at the clouds looming above the castles at Far Far Away!
